SEEK GUIDANCE IF YOU FEEL LIKE YOU MAY BECOME VIOLENT

Struggling with mental health is not uncommon within Australia and alot of the time, it is poor mental health that leads to physical or verbal abuse. If you feel like you may be a threat to others or feel like you are losing control in your relationship, do not hesitate to ask a trusted adult or counsellor for support. It is better to reach out early to fix these issues before a relationship becomes more toxic and leads to further mental health struggles.
CHECK IN WITH YOUR FRIENDS

If you have friends that are in their own relationships or are struggling with family conflict, check in and ask how they are going. Some people may not realise what a toxic relationship looks like so if you notice any 'red flags', you could say "hey, I noticed _____ seemed a bit aggressive before, is everything all good?". People may get defensive of their partner if you tell them that you don't think that their relationship is healthy/that their partner is wrong so just make sure your friends know you just want the best for them and are checking in because you care about them and don't want them to get hurt.
JOIN A YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL

Want to have a voice on domestic and family violence in Australia? If you're aged between 12 and 15, White Ribbon Australia has a youth advisory council to help give young people a voice in advocating against domestic violence.
SPEAK TO A TRUSTED ADULT OR PROFESSIONAL IF YOU NEED HELP

Speaking to someone outside of the situation may offer guidance and resources to help you access the tools necessary to escape and recover from abusive relationships. It is always better to ask for help before the problem becomes worse and there are so many people willing to help if you are able to reach out. Visit our helplines page for available organisations.
